“Forget Me Not” opens with a brief, but powerful:
47-year-old Rebeccah Propst, fighting through a grand mal seizure in bed – a
seizure that stole her entire long-term memory. This is the true story of the
Berthoud epileptic woman, and her struggle to retain independence after the
loss of her career and education, and to reacquaint herself with family and
friends who’d been erased from her memory.
Propst, a Phi Beta Kappa honors student, former business
owner, former governmental affairs director for the Colorado Association of
Realtors and a black belt in karate, now she works as a janitor at the Northern
Colorado Water Conservancy District. Her story first appeared in The Denver
Post after her book “Absent Memories” was published, and then went national, culminating
in a Diane Sawyer interview on Good Morning America in 2008.
